If the market is soft you will have to understand up front that buying a home for wholesale real estate investing will take some intelligence. You do not want to have to limit yourself to acquiring a house that you can live in. In which case, that means you buy a home and occupy it until you sell it. In such a location you will need to get an edge on other investors. You will not be able to sell it any higher than what the area supports. Thus you need to acquire at a substantial discount to retain a reasonable profit if you are doing this the traditional way.

Given the current real estate markets and the amount of motivated sellers, wholesalers who are flipping real estate are doing very well.
